So it’s been over week now of futbol and it was obviously ambitious to think I could blog every day about it but whatever, here’s some damn fine reporting via me.
One of the biggest stories is that 2010 Champions, Spain, was eliminated pretty much immediately. I have complicated feelings about Spain. Mostly I wonder if Canadian First Nations look at white people and think “Oh your people colonized mine” because that’s what I think when I look at the Spanish. So it’s odd to cheer for them but they are undeniably handsome with a good looking jersey.

Ever since the last cup, I had an affinity for the sensitive goalie whose sticker is not his best side; Iker Casillas.
But the losses were hard.

And me and Talya exchanged some bummed out selfies.
More losses hitting close to home as a family friend headed down to Brazil to see his beloved Honduras. He even made it on TV and on the FIFA website! (Hi Memo!)
<< Even the guy from my sticker book was not feeling good about this.It’s a big deal to make it to the tournament for sure but it doesn’t seem to make the heartbreak any easier.
And then there are the surprises like Colombia! Their superstar player has been out with an injury but the young guys are sure stepping it up.
And they keep me and my sister watching like this:
I have recently become invested in this team via my family and how my sister made a baby with a Colombian. But how do you not love the team that does this after a goal?
